RE: Coronavirus - School up-date 18.3.20
Further to recent up-dates from the Department for Education and Public Health England, I would like to update you on the current situation at Millbrook Primary School.
Unfortunately due to staffing shortages, the Nursery will be closing for the remainder of this week and will be reviewed on Friday. Any staff will be redeployed to help keep the rest of the school open.
It is becoming increasingly likely that the whole school might potentially close at some point in the near future and we should all begin planning for such an eventuality. However, although there is some fluctuation in staffing levels as we respond and manage individual situations, as long as we can ensure the safety and well-being of staff and pupils, our intention (as directed) is to remain open for business for as long as is possible.
As I shared with you previously, contingency planning is underway. Teachers are organising work for each year group in the event of a closure of the school. This will be made available through our school website. Details of this work and our plan for continuity of education under difficult circumstances will be outlined on the next page.
We do understand that this is a worrying time for families. Thank you for acting upon the advice of health professionals when it comes to monitoring symptoms and self-isolating as appropriate. You have entrusted us with your children by choosing Millbrook and we will make sure that their health and well-being is put first. With this in mind, all trips (including swimming) up until the end of term will be cancelled. Also, all external teachers and sports clubs will not be in school for the rest of this term.
We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and support in these uncertain times. As always, we will act with the best intentions and in the best interests of our pupils, staff and our community.
