Kids Club and Mini Kids (Breakfast and After School Club)

Millbrook Kids Club

Millbrook Kids Club is a breakfast and afterschool club that provides stimulating, child-initated activities within a safe, friendly, inclusive environment.

We work in harmony with the Millbrook values and ethos and encourage and demonstrate these qualities at all times. Children can relax and spend time with other children on activities like board games, drawing, painting, construction and reading.

We also make the most of the outdoor space, and children have the opportunity to play outside daily, and during bad weather have use of the school hall. We think of this as a home from home space which is less structured than the school day.

Timings

Breakfast sessions run from 7.30am until the start of school.

After school sessions run from 3.00 until 6.00pm.

All children are dropped off and picked up from their classrooms. Parental permission will be sought for year 6 children to walk to and from kids club.

Staffing

Diana Steptoe - Club Manager, Safeguarding Lead, First Aider

Kenna Creswell – Deputy manager, Play Worker, First aider

At times we may also have extra support staff from school to cover absences or for extra support needs.

We have tried to keep fee increases as low as possible in light of the ongoing impact of inflationary pressures on families however we do have to ensure that we cover the full costs of running the provision.

Wraparound fees from September’25

Please find below the fee structure from September 2025:

  • Breakfast sessions are £7.60 per child

  • After school sessions are £14.60 per child

      Getting Hold of Us

During school hours, messages can be left with the main school office on 01235 764822. The club has its own mobile phone which is on during after school hours of 3-6pm 07500095722

This is mainly used for more urgent messages such as informing us about nonattendance, a different person picking up etc.

For less urgent enquires/notifications, please email us at kidsclub@mbk.cambrianlt.org

We aim to check emails at least once a day but do allow 48 hrs if a reply is required - we are busy entertaining the children!

Before and After School Care – Supporting Positive Behaviour

At Millbrook Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for all children attending our before and after school provision. We recognise that children may sometimes need additional support with social interactions, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour, particularly during less structured parts of the school day.

Our wraparound care (Kids Club and Mini Kids) follows the school’s behaviour policy, promoting kindness, responsibility, and safety at all times. Staff work closely with children to encourage positive play, build friendships, and help them understand the impact of their actions on others. Where concerns arise, we take a proactive and supportive approach, working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure consistency between home and school.

In some cases, individual support plans or behaviour agreements may be put in place to help a child succeed within the provision. These plans set out clear expectations, agreed strategies for support, and next steps if difficulties continue. While we aim to be as inclusive as possible, there may be occasions where the level of supervision required exceeds what we can safely provide within our staffing ratios.

If you have any questions about our before and after school care, or would like to discuss your child’s needs, please contact the school office. We are always happy to work together to find the best possible support for every child.

Charges for late collection

The governing body has decided that, except in emergency situations (be advised that traffic does not count as an emergency situation), where children are not collected from the school within five minutes after the school day or after school activity ending, then a charge will be made to the child’s parent or carer. The school accepts that a variety of emergencies can arise due to unforeseen circumstances and will ensure that the charge is not imposed on the parent where there is a genuine unforeseen emergency. Notification must be given to the school as soon as the situation arises or when collecting the child.

The Charging Arrangements – Kids Club and Mini Kids

In cases where a child is not collected on time a charge of £5.00 will be made to the parent / carer for not collected by 6pm and then anything over 15 minutes is a further £10.00.

For example,

If your child is collected at 6:05pm you will incur a £5 charge (added to your invoice).

If your child is collected at 6:15pm or after a further £10 charge will be added to your invoice (meaning an overall charge of £15 will be added to your invoice).

This late charge will be automatically added to the next invoice. Failure to pay will lead to further action being taken and could result in withdrawal of place.
