Our Rooms

We have three classrooms for our children aged 2 to 4 years. Each child is assigned to one predominantly based on their age. This is a nurturing space where they belong and where their key worker is based. This arrangement helps build strong, trusting relationships and enables staff to tailor learning experiences to each child’s individual needs.

Our learning environments are thoughtfully designed to encourage children to engage in meaningful, self-directed play. Resources are carefully chosen and displayed to be visually inviting and easily accessible, empowering children to make independent choices and follow their interests.

Caterpillar - 2 Year olds

This set up ensures that our youngest children in Caterpillar are cared for in a warm and nurturing environment, allowing them to engage in play and exploration at their own pace, with the opportunity to rest or sleep as needed, supporting their early development and growing independence. The daily routine is thoughtfully designed to provide a balance of play, learning, and rest, helping children feel secure and confident. Activities are centred around sensory exploration, early communication, and social interaction, with opportunities for messy play, music and movement, simple puzzles, and imaginative role play. Our team gently encourage children to begin managing small tasks independently, such as feeding themselves, washing hands, and tidying up, while also supporting emotional wellbeing through consistent routines and positive relationships. This stage lays the foundation for future learning, helping children build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging.

Children approaching the age of three, our rising pre-schoolers in Ladybird 1, are cared for in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment that supports their growing curiosity and emerging independence. Within this dedicated space, the daily routine is thoughtfully structured to balance active exploration with moments of calm and rest. Activities are designed to encourage early communication, social interaction, and physical development through play-based learning. These may include sensory experiences such as water and sand play, simple puzzles and construction toys to develop fine motor skills, music and movement sessions, and group story times to foster listening and language. Our staff support children in making choices, expressing their needs, and beginning to manage simple tasks independently, such as tidying up or washing hands. This gentle, responsive approach lays the foundation for confident transitions into the preschool room and beyond.

Ladybird 2 - Pre-School 3 & 4 year olds

Our older preschool children in Ladybird 2 are nurtured in an environment that promotes the development of essential skills and growing independence, supporting their readiness for Reception. Throughout the day, children engage in a variety of structured and child-led activities designed to foster cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. These may include early literacy and numeracy experiences, such as storytelling, mark-making, counting games, and phonics-based activities. Opportunities for creative expression are provided through art, music, and imaginative play, while outdoor play supports gross motor skills and teamwork. Children are also encouraged to take increasing responsibility for their personal care, make choices, and solve problems independently, laying a strong foundation for a confident transition to formal education.
