Our Key Person Approach
At Millbrook, we believe that a strong sense of wellbeing begins with children feeling truly valued for who they are—unique, special, and deeply cared for.
While families play a vital role in showing children they are unconditionally loved, we recognise the importance of nurturing those same feelings within our nursery environment. That’s why we follow a Key Person approach, ensuring every child builds a secure and trusting relationship with a dedicated member of our team.
This special connection helps children feel safe, supported, and understood—whether it’s sharing a book, enjoying a game, laughing, playing outside or being creative together. During the first few weeks of a child’s initial term, we carefully observe interactions to match each child with the Key Person who best suits their personality and family dynamic. This thoughtful process helps create a strong foundation for their time with us.
Our goal is to make every child feel seen, heard, and respected, because when children feel secure and valued, they thrive.
Each child’s key person not only supports their learning and development in nursery but also builds a strong, trusting relationship with the family. This is nurtured through regular communication across the school year, including two parents’ evenings and a detailed end-of-year report written by the key person, ensuring families remain closely involved in their child’s progress and experiences.
